I love to teach beginners and improvers and specialise in adults either returning to music or following their dream of learning to sing or play. I'm relaxed and will work at whatever rate you are happy to follow - whether that's a steady pace or a specific timed challenge. I believe it's important to remember that you are paying for a service, so you are free to set the pace and format of lessons.
I'm happy to work through the traditional tutor books and exam processes or just play or sing pieces of any genre to improve your technique. I should warn you that I'm a big fan of scales for flute players! I can offer music theory lessons alongside practical sessions or as a stand-alone option.
I'm at home with the Classics, but also regularly perform jazz, pop and show tunes. I believe it’s important to experience music from a range of genres to widen your musical experience and if you are studying towards an exam, I will encourage you to play and sing outside your selected syllabus as much as possible.
I teach at home from my own music room, but I can also offer online lessons via Zoom if you're not able to make it in person.
If you'd like more information or would like to see if I have a slot available that would suit you, please get in touch. If I can't fit you in right now, I'm happy to add you to my waiting list or I can recommend other teachers in Nottingham. Please do get in contact and I'll let you know someone who may be able to help if I can't.
Important note! In April 2018, we adopted a rescue lurcher - Derek. He's a big, friendly boy and likes to jump up and greet you with kisses if you let him. He will often wander in to listen - he may even sing along! If you're not a dog person, I'm probably not the teacher for you, as Derek is the most important member of our household and I'm not able to shut him away in another part of the house, as he gets upset!
